Meet Shirley Chancellor

Hello! I'm Shirley,

The only nurturing and love we received were mostly from our maternal grandmother. She was a devout Christian and planted seeds of faith in us at every opportunity. Our nuclear family was dysfunctional and full of violence and drama, so our only escape was when allowed to spend time with our grandmother.

School years were torment because of hiding secrets and avoiding close relationships to prevent being “found out” when the truth of our home life was revealed. Earning my own living from the age of 13, I grew up fiercely independent and believing no one was to be trusted. That lie affected my marriage, my daughter, and every other area of my life.

I had to be brought to the point of either turning to God, who was calling me the whole time, or giving up and ending a life that seemed futile and hopeless.

Thankfully, I turned to the Father and surrendered totally to Him. It wasn’t quick, and it wasn’t painless, but when I ceased fighting Him, I found a peace and joy I never thought possible. I share the strategies and tools He revealed to me in my book, Deactivating Triggers: Finding Joy and Peace in the Middle of an Angry, Chaotic World. My greatest hope and desire is to see others freed from a life of anger, bitterness, resentment, and moved into the life and destiny planned for them from the foundation of the world.

In my chapter of the Paper Crowns Volume 1 anthology, I share more about my story. Through surrender and obedience, I was launched into my destiny. I know God has a great plan for your life, and it starts with knowing His heart towards you.
