What Every Kingdom-Driven Writer Must Know Before Publishing

As 2024 comes to a close, we at Paper Crown Media are filled with gratitude for the incredible journey this year has been. Since our launch in March, we’ve celebrated milestones, supported Kingdom-driven writers, and helped bring God-inspired books to life. To wrap up the year, we’re sharing one of our most valuable lessons: What Every Kingdom-Driven Writer Must Know Before Publishing.

If you feel called to write, this blog is for you. Whether you’re just starting your writing journey or you’re ready to publish, understanding these three key principles will set you up for success in honoring your calling, refining your message, and connecting with your ideal reader.

1. Be Confident in Your Calling

Before you write a single word, it’s crucial to stand firm in the knowledge that God has called you to this work. Writing a book isn’t just about sharing your thoughts—it’s about being a faithful steward of the message God has placed on your heart.

Confidence in your calling doesn’t mean you won’t have doubts along the way. It means trusting that God will equip you for the task He’s given you. Spend time in prayer, seek confirmation from scripture, and surround yourself with a supportive community of fellow Christian writers who can encourage you.

2. Understand Your Core Message

One of the biggest mistakes writers make is trying to fit everything into one book. While it’s tempting to cover all the ideas swirling in your mind, clarity and focus are essential for creating a book that resonates with readers.

Ask yourself:

  • What is the main message God wants me to share through this book?
  • What do I want my readers to take away after finishing it?

Stick to one core idea and save your other inspirations for future projects. By narrowing your focus, your writing will be more impactful, and your readers will walk away with a clear understanding of your message.

3. Know Your Ideal Reader

Your book isn’t for everyone—and that’s okay! In fact, trying to write for everyone often leads to a diluted message that doesn’t connect deeply with anyone. Instead, take time to identify your ideal reader.

Consider these questions:

  • Who needs this message the most?
  • What challenges or questions are they facing that your book can address?
  • How can you speak to their specific needs, experiences, and struggles?

By focusing on a specific audience, you’ll write with greater clarity and purpose, and your book will have a more significant impact.

A Year to Celebrate
