In Matthew 25, Jesus shares the Parable of the Talents, a story that carries deep spiritual significance about stewardship, faith, and courage. It’s not just about money—it’s about what God has placed in our hands, and how we choose to respond.
Let’s walk through 3 powerful truths from this parable that challenge and encourage us not to bury our talents, but to multiply what God has entrusted to us.
"To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one—each according to his ability." (Matthew 25:15)
This part of the story is so reassuring. The master didn't randomly assign the talents; he gave them out based on what each servant could handle.
God operates the same way with us. That dream on your heart, that burden, that calling—it’s not an accident. God placed it there because He knows you’re able to steward it. He isn’t asking you to do something beyond your capacity, but He is inviting you to grow in faith, obedience, and diligence.
Maybe you’ve been feeling the weight of a calling and wondering, “Why me?” Friend, it’s because God trusts you with it. He knows you have what it takes, and He will be with you every step of the way.
Obedience Commands the Blessing
The servants who multiplied their talents were met with joy and affirmation from their master:
“Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:21)
This shows us God’s heart. He delights in our obedience, no matter how big or small the outcome might seem to us. When we take what He gives us and say YES—even in small, simple ways—He multiplies it. He breathes on it. He blesses it.
We don’t have to strive for success in the way the world defines it. What matters is that we are faithful to what God has asked us to do. And in that faithfulness, we step into the joy and reward of our Lord.
Fear Will Try to Rob You
The servant who buried his talent admitted he did it out of fear:
“I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground.” (Matthew 25:25)
Fear is a thief. It wants to bury your calling, silence your voice, and paralyze your potential. But here’s the good news: Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). When we truly understand how deeply God loves us, we stop hiding and start walking boldly in our assignment.
Fear says, “You’re not enough.”
Love says, “You’re fully equipped.”
Fear says, “What if you fail?”
Love says, “I’m with you always.”
You are fully loved, fully seen, and fully protected in Him. You don’t have to wait until you feel ready—just start. Say yes. Take the step. God will meet you there.
A Simple but Bold Declaration
Today, I want to invite you to do something small but significant. Make a bold declaration in the Spirit:
“YES, I will multiply what God has given me.”
Don’t let fear hold you back from walking in your God-given purpose. Whether it’s starting a new project, reaching out to someone, writing that book, leading that group, or simply sharing your story—take the step.
Start today by answering your call to write. This workbook will help you clarify your calling, craft your core message, and identify your target audience.
God placed that talent in your hands for a reason. Let’s honor Him by putting it to work.
