Meet Karen Brooks

I was humbled and honored to serve in our local Pregnancy Care Ministry for nearly 25

years battling for LIFE and the Hope of the Gospel. After retiring in 2016, I began

volunteering at the US Institute Against Human Trafficking in 2018, providing survivors

with services and resources for recovering, healing, restoration and freedom. Through

much prayer and training, I started a non-profit in 2019 and opened HER LightHouse, a

long-term housing ministry for pregnant survivors and their babies coming out of sexual

exploitation and trafficking, in 2021.  This proved to be a heart wrenching journey as our

Board had to make the painful decision to close the door in 2022. Through much

healing and restoration, the Lord redeemed this painful loss and defeating

disappointment to birth His new mission of “HIS Redeeming Purpose” in my heart in

2025. I am passionate about empowering women to embrace God’s redeeming purpose

through their hard stories.  I speak and write from my personal story and experiences of

suffering a traumatic childhood, how God rescued me and has been healing, restoring

and setting me free through His redeeming love and power over the years. My mission

is to inspire and ignite women to flourish in their faith, overcome the pain of their past

and live out HIS Redeeming Purpose for their lives as beautiful displays of HIS

Splendor! (Isaiah 61:3)

My greatest joy is being called “Grammy” and spending quality time with my most

precious gift from God, my granddaughter.

Many years ago, I dreamed of writing a book to share my story and help other women

to heal and be set free through the amazing love, power and truth of God’s Word. I

never thought I was capable to write, but the Lord revealed to me this past year that I

was focusing too much on what I lacked instead of focusing on what God could do in

and through me. I took the step of faith and said, “Yes!” to Him and He has been faithful

to lead and guide me through His Holy Spirit and Meliza, my awesome writing coach, to

experience the miracle of writing this spiritual journey workbook…to bear much fruit to

His Glory.

Becoming A Display of HIS Splendor is for women of all ages who desire to be

spiritually and emotionally healthy followers of Christ. My heartfelt and diligent prayer is

that many of God’s beloved daughters will be healed, restored and redeemed so they

may move from doubt to a flourishing, unshakeable faith as oaks of righteousness for

the display of HIS Splendor.
